I never intended to get into the trend of the "Fresh 48" sessions. I have only done a handful in my photography career and it seemed so insignificant to me in comparison to the Maternity and Newborn sessions that it always got pushed aside. It wasn't until I dug these photos out of the archives and made this video, that I realized how incredibly powerful and important it is to document this time. Through the haze of recovering from labor and delivery, sleeplessly caring for your fragile newborn baby, and the endless flow of doctors and nurses... it is nearly impossible to remember those emotional and new first 48 hours of life. It was so special to deliver this video to Maisie's parents and watch them as they were overcome with joy and emotions. Seeing their reaction to this simple, yet POWERFUL video reminded me why I love photography so very much! THIS IS WHY!!
